Sue from LUSU Sports led a great two-day Learning Disability tennis camp on June 11th and 12th, hosted by Grantham Tennis Club (LTA 2022 Club of the Year). The camps aim to bring players of all abilities and experience levels together, mixing tennis with fun, social activities and providing an opportunity to meet other players
Sue was assisted by Paul from Grantham and an energetic team of volunteers. A great group of young people attended the camp, all experiencing Sue’s endless energy and creative ideas, making the weekend full of colour, laughter, and lots of tennis.
Saturday started with nylon squares and ‘flying fish’ working on movement and co-ordination, followed by a focus on forehands and the serve. The day was rounded off with fish and chips and an evening of socialising with the families.
Sunday started with a fun game of tennis ‘moves’ and ‘grooves’ to music which woke everyone up and got them ready for the day. The focus was on the backhand and volley before finishing off with a great game of doubles matchplay to round up a fantastic two days of tennis.
“What a great couple of days – I felt very lucky to have been invited by the LTA and The Dan Maskell tennis trust to spend time with a great group of people and their parents. Their energy and enthusiasm was infectious- it was a joy and a privilege to share my ideas and join in the fun with them” (Sue)
