Louise was joined by NE LUSU Sports Ambassador, Frankie Rohan to deliver an inclusive tennis session for the students at Newcastle College, at the amazing home of the Newcastle Eagles Basketball Team. 14 students arrived full of energy for their inclusive sports practical session. An opportunity to put classroom learning into practice.
The session started with warm up ideas using the LUSUKit and linking into the STEPS model, ensuring that all activities were individualised for the learners. The components of Sending, Receiving and Striking were broken down, simplified and using a variety or equipment, were then progressed into the full game of Tennis.
The students then added to their knowledge from the VI Football session, and added VI tennis to their databank, working in pairs and small groups to highlight any changes that may need to be made when coaching this session.
It was great to have Frankie’s assistance and knowledge, and hopefully the students will take some of the top tips into their coaching sessions and apply it in practice.
