On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April, 12 visually impaired tennis players came for a 2 day Tennis Camp based at Northumberland Tennis Club. The 12 players, included 2 players who have been picked to represent GB in the Forthcoming International Tournament in May (Spain), players from Glasgow and London. The 2 day camp was lead by Louise Assioun and assisted by Lucy Scott, with additional support from great volunteers (Marcus, Melissa, Ashleigh, Callum and Will).
The camp was player centred and structured to allow maximum learning for both players and the assistant coaches. Sessions included Movement and Tracking (using LUSUKit), ABC’s, Technical coaching on Backhands, Volleys and Serve & Return, Tactical intentions for both doubles and singles play, and plenty of opportunity to put learning into matchplay.
The weekend concluded with a hard fought team challenge, which went to the final match. A great learning environment for all and one to be repeated in the future.
