On Monday 7th November, LUSU Sports delivered an Inclusive Tennis Festival for Active Schools Leeds. 157 children from 17 schools across Leeds arrived, full of energy and anticipation for the 2 hours that lay ahead.
LUSU Sports had the support of coaches & volunteers from JCCS and Leeds Beckett University, and the morning had been organised to ensure every child rotated around the specially designed stations. Sports literacy was at the heart of the games & activities, which allowed the children to work on key movement and sending & receiving skills, in a safe environment with fun at the core and encouraged the children to play with the new equipment.
Teachers and teaching assistants also played and experimented with the equipment. It was great to see the children all engaged and with big broad smiles on their faces, working in a fully inclusive environment with their teachers, personal assistants and peers.
“Thank you for yesterday! Fab event. Lots of children smiley = great success.”Mark Nye, Active Schools Project Support Officer
